I have no problem with the pretty stuff and having someone doing all the leg work to narrow the choices. The OP was looking for an easy breathing reg because his SO was having anxiety and felt a better reg would help. I just do not believe any reg np matter how easy breathing is going to get rid of the anxiety of diving. No amount of gear can do that. You just have to get use to splashing in and then comes the pretty stuff.

Let's face it even the most experienced of divers would have a tough time picking one reg over the other in a blind test.

Oops, I'll go back to my corner now. I thought you were commenting that the idea of making a decision for her was wacky (perhaps a shovenistic thing to do).

Although, anxiety is a problem in your head. People get over anxiety when you give them a suger pill and tell them it is a new super drug that will solve their symptoms. Giving her a shiny new reg and telling her it is the best one made, surely she is safe with that. Any of those regs would work, you would just need to find one review that says its the best and that doesn't seem to be too hard to do. It could only help I suppose. I doubt it would make it worse (aside from the lighter wallet).

get the scubapro, ladies like the vanilla smell

There may be some truth to that if it accomplishes nothing more than to get her believing it is all in the reg which wil get her in the water. I has not looked at it from that persepctive. It does have it's merit's.

I really love the old Dacor pacer xp second stages. I think about breathing and it shoves air down my throat. They are pretty easy to adjust also.

This is my idea of a bad reg; one that uses excessive venturi effect to push air down your throat, often because the design doesn't produce smooth and effortless flow. Ideally you want a reg that responds naturally just like you're breathing on the surface. This is where the old SP D series and the balanced/adjustables really shine.

Well, Scott, maybe there is hope for you. It is not about equipment, it is about reassurance. Hypertech gets it. I can't believe how many people are here to push their products without regard for the underlying issue.

Well said, modern reg are all great breathers. They need to hook them up to computers to measure the differences now adays. So to say on brand is better then another if just doing what the manufactures want, but the truth is they are all about the same.

If my wife need reassurance, I would go get the best reg money can buy to give the added assurance she needs for her personal comfort. And if she leans though on brand, I would get the best one that brands makes.

This is a personal sport and about individual comfort, not I know more about things they you. :D
