ok, most major line major brand regs - scubapro, sherwood, oceanic, aqualung, mares, atomic, dive rite, zeagle, etc. all breathe well. Maybe breathing machines can tell a difference, but most divers cannot. The biggest factor to me is: #1 "what feels (subjective) most comfortable in your mouth on challenging dives" and #2. what can be serviced locally. My answer is a late 1980's sherwood oasis +. To 200', it is sweet. No adjustments - why adjust if not needed. Cold water reg. 'nough said. Yeah scuba pro is sweet too, I have a newer -though not the most current reg -G500 that I would dive to most rec/tech depths. Just back from a week in Coz with deco diving. Oasis+ did just fine - American made quality (max depth 140' this trip).

Well, Scott, maybe there is hope for you. It is not about equipment, it is about reassurance. Hypertech gets it. I can't believe how many people are here to push their products without regard for the underlying issue.
Sometimes I get lucky with an opinion,

I didn't bother reading all 6 pages... just incase the OP is still reading this and no one else mentioned it....

GENERALLY most/all regs are set to an inhalation effort crack ~ 1" some are a little harder, some (though probably against mfg suggestions) are set lower. I personally like to set my regs to very light effort ~.7" as time goes by and it starts to free flow a tad bit, I just adjust in the knob. I wouldn't do this to other peoples regs, just my own.

Again GENERALLY the larger the diaphragm the nicer breathing a reg is. I like my Apeks regs over my ScubaPro S600, I think they breath nicer. However the S600 breathes much drier in other positions other than flat. It also breathes much easier while looking up.

im sure someone posted this already, but im too lazy to look through 6 pages to see. i just got an Apekx XTX200 and LOVE it. Easiest breathing regulator i have tried yet. ive tried the aqualung titans, which i did not care for; the aqulung legend, which was great, i really liked; the Apekx XTX50, which, again, are great and i loved; and finally, my XTX200. BY FAR (and it could just be in my head) the 200 took the cake. SUPER easy to breathe. 1000% of my vote.

The truth is in the numbers....

Well, your idea of truth, anyhow. Machine testing scores are not very useful for evaluating what a reg feels like when diving, especially when the results tend to be closer than typically perceptible by humans.

This topic is kind of a silly question, which invites all sorts of opinions. I guess that's what the internet is for!

I didn't read the other 6 pages either. I have to agree with most of the above.
