I think it's safe to say that this thread has gone wildly off the topic?
I'm sure @Marie13 will be along shortly to sort things out and let us know of her next adventure under the sea. The stories of Sebastian, Flounder and Skuttle won't be held hostage by our attempts at thread piracy.

I’m selling my CCR. My bum knees can’t take the weight anymore. It was fun, but I’ll go back to OC SM. And, no, a SM CCR or chest mount unit won’t work. Overkill for my diving.

It's sad to hear that, but absolutely the right decision.

CCR's, like dogs, are for life and not just for Christmas (from an animal rescue advertisement campaign years ago in the UK).

CCRs need a lot of practice to use. They need a lot of maintenance. They really aren't great for a handful of dives, even the cells get expensive.

But welcome back to the world of simple diving! Screw in the regulator, test breathe, and you're good to go!

I’m selling my CCR.
Like any new activity, there's alot of training, tips and lessons that you pick up in training and practice. Many of those skills nicely transfer over to your regular diving. Even though I'm just a once-a-yr cave diver, those skills I learned made me a much better ocean diver. Your rig should sell quick, it's summer dive time!

Absolutely!

What a shame but then I'm not really fazed by whichever direction my body or diving will take me

I thought that was a S. Korean food advertisement .... sorry couldn't resist.

Knee problems are what limit me climbing boat ladders with a twinset these days.

Marie,

Does this (i.e., your decision to sell your CCR) mean that you've decided to no longer pursue tri-mix diving, to no longer pursue tri-mix-deep Great Lakes shipwrecks?

FWIW, A couple of recent SB threads suggest (to me) that certain mCCR/eCCR tri-mix rigs configured as "dil-out" rigs can be pretty light-in-weight. I wonder if such a CCR, with only an Al 40 of oxygen (say) will agree with your knees, yet still be sufficient to take you deep enough for you to get your occasional fix on deep-enough Great Lakes shipwrecks.
