I have a dedicated "wet Key" and clip it into my pocket.

I hide the key with the thingy in the truck someplace.

Ditto. Wet key on a dog clip clipped to a d-ring. Regular keys in the van.

CBulla:
Good question - I don't have any doors or top to speak of.. so the Jeep is always open. Sometimes I use the lil 'not for climbing' D-ring and clip it under the middle of the drives seat.. it can't be seen there..

CBulla, when are you going diving again, and where? ;)

I think the heirloom wristwatch segment in "Pulp Fiction" describes an interesting alternative.

All very good ideas. Be careful if you're stashing your key somewhere on or around the vehicle. I read about a place (Fort Wetherall, RI) that someone would watch the diver stash their keys with binoculars, then,,you know the rest.

My keys are chipped and I have remote entry. Diving with these will fry 'em. I went to the dealer (Mazda), got a spare key and had it cut at a local hardware store. I lock the good keys in the car, and use the spare/cut key for the door lock - it won't work in the ignition... I toss it in my BC pocket and hit the water.

That is exactly what prompted me to post this thread. I'm used to boat diving so stashing keys is usually either a point to take up with the boat skipper or the dive charter for me. :coffee:

Being a dry suit diver, I just put it in my pocket.......:D

But I SO love being able to open the truck with the gear on and flop it onto the tailgate... as opposed to having to strip down to my undies and dig out the key.

I'm loving the hitch thingy even more.

I leave them on the floorboards, with the windows down and the doors unlocked. That way a potential thief won't break things going through my stuff.

Amazingly I haven't had any problems.

For those of us without tow hitches, cheaper solutions exist.

Realtor's Key boxes. About $30 or so. You just lock your key in the little combination safe and attach it to something solid and metal (like tow points) under your car. Easy peasy.
