Beach Dives in Kauai

Staying in Poipu for 10 days in August '13. Can you beach dive off Poipu? Also, if you had to stay in a location on Kaua'i that offered the best beach dives and had a sandy beach where would you stay?

The shore diving near Poipu is at Koloa Landing. Not a sandy beach, but there are those close by.

I'd stay (as I have in the past), at Kiahuna Plantation. Nice condos, strolling distance to sandy beaches, shopping and restaurants. Very short drive to Koloa Landing.

For both shore and boat diving, I prefer Fathom Five.

That time of year, be sure to schedule at least one day of diving and general cavorting at Tunnels Beach on the north shore.
