If you like Zeagle then go with the Zeagle backplate/harness/wing system. I don't have any experience with Zeagle BPW, but Zeagle is known for quality products, so how bad can it be?

I'd go with the Zeagle plate&harness plus two wings: 30-lbs for single tank diving and 65-lbs for double-tanks diving.

I'd also recommend staying away from the Dive Rite Rec Wing. I have one and don't like it for the same reasons: too big for singles, likes to taco, difficult to vent.

One of the really neat things in my opinion about the BP/W desings is that you really don't need to spend the big $$ on the big names to get good stuff. HOG makes a complete package that can be had with a SS BP, one piece harness, and 32 lb singles wing for around $300. That leaves you alot of money left over to purchase a dedicated doubles wing or Aluminum plate etc later on.
Here is one of the best deals currently available IMHO :

Golem 35 Lbs SS Combo

You can choose either the horseshoe or donut style wing. Several of my buddies have bought this package and have been very happy with it.

Other companies that make good gear are Oxycheq, DSS, and Halcyon (although Halcyon is way too expensive for my personal taste it's very high quality stuff for sure)

Thanks so much everyone for your suggestions. I think I am a lot less confused now :-)

Why do I feel like I just witnessed someone dropping a bait ball in a shark tank?

Just sayin'

Sorry to dissapoint :-) Herk Man but you're wrong on this one. I genuinely appreciate all the advice and suggestions. The thing is, I am not a novice diver and kind was going in the BP/W direction anyway when i asked for advice; I guess it's because I needed other diver's perspectives to help make up my mind. And I did decide on a BP/W setup. Dont know which one but I am going to the dive shop this evening (I am an impulsive shopper unfortunatelly) and once I get my rig setup I will share it with everyone in this forum. Thanks again all for your help.

I hope the shop is a good one that will let you decide what you want and not try to talk you into a bunch of useless junk. A BPW with hog harness is indeed the most versatile. I'd also advise that you dive it with singles for awhile before going into doubles. Unless your experience recently has been at a stepped up pace 150 dives over 10 years mostly warm water is not much experience when it comes to considering a tech path. There are some tech instructors that would like to see 100 dives in say the last 2 years before starting. You can take an intro to tech or better yet a fundies class. But again stay with simple proven designs and don;t let lots of drings, padding, quick releases, etc wow you. They are not needed and you also don;t need to spend 700 bucks on a set up. As one poster already noted 300 will get a nice basic rig that will serve you well. And once you start down this path be advised that the money you saved will get spent. Sooner rather than later probably and will also be a lot more than you expect. Doubles, regs, stages, lights, drysuit, etc. Welcome to the dark side. Now open your wallet wide.

One VERY strong piece of advice -- don't try to buy a setup that will work for singles and doubles. Buy a singles setup, and buy a doubles wing later, if and when you do decide to get into technical or overhead diving. There is no wing that works well for both purposes, and the cost of a doubles wing won't even be noticed in the total cost of getting into technical diving.

Got it. Thanks Jim and TSandM. No worries, single bladder first and when i get into tech diving i'll pick the right one for that type of diving. still have a lot to do before I get into tech. Need to finish my DM this spring, get my Instructor level, and while doing this slowly get introduced to tech diving. I am in no rush, just doing it for fun taking it all in slow. Just wanted to spend the money wisely...

You may want to get involved with DiveNY. Some of them dive BP/W's and can probably show you the pro's/cons.
ScubaSam dives a DSS rig and several others dive OMS or Halcyon afaik.
