Another vote for the Titan LX Supreme. I also dive the pricier Legend, another aqaulung reg but I would (and do) dive the Titan anywhere in any conditions.

I have a Suunto Gekko for a computer, very affordable and does what I need it to do.

Yes I would go with that... the Gekko is a great computer Nitrox ready everything you need but tank pressure. Put it on a wrist mount boot, you can download it to your computer if you like that. I have one I use it alot. You can always just get a brass pressure gauge and keep yourself streamlined really well. That setuo will take you a long way without costing you a bundle.

Titan LX.

That would depend on how far your advancing with your diving. Nothing worse than spending good money to only want to upgrade a year later. If your going to stay in the recreational field of diving Oceanic and aqualung are a great priced setup for sure. I bought Aqalung Glacia and a Cobra 2 computer. I love them. If you ever decide to go to the tech side of diving you may want to spend a little extra now rather than alot later. I am now going doubles and heading towards the tech side of diving. I need to get setup. So Had i thought of this before I would have gone with something I could use down the road. Hope you understand what i am saying. But still you can't go wrong with aqualung or oceanic. Just remember it is your comfort ease of breathing thats important.

Good luck and happy shopping!

Even if he goes Tech, that Oceanic setup that was linked to, would be an absolutely stellar stage bottle reg, or put to good use on the left post of doubles. It breathes every bit as easily as my more expensive regs, it just lacks the adjustability that I personally prefer on a primary reg (my opinion of course, others may feel differently).

Your right Jimmer..

Thats what I was planning on doing with my regs now, break them down for stage bottles. My LDS is offering me a great trade in for a new set of APEX TEK 3 setup.

Well stated point!

My husband and I bought the Titan LX regs when we got certified, and I have never regretted the purchase. They weren't expensive, as regulators go, and they came with a good warranty and parts for life. They have performed quite satisfactorily down to 130 feet, in warm water and cold. I can't think of any way in which I am dissatisfied with them. They were a really good piece of advice from our LDS, which recommended them to us.

What is your local dive shop diving with their students?

Are you diving where they are diving, for the most part?
---

If the answer is yes, you might want to purchase their student gear at a discount...
---

Example:
My local dive shop discounts their student gear (always ScubaPro S600) at the end of the year, but honors their warranty... free parts + labor

What is the preferred product of your local lds, and will they honor the same on student gear?

LP also has the Legend Glacia for only $20 more than the Titan LX. At $200, that sounds like a steal to me!
