Actually my husband and I dove Menganjan in late June of this year. There are many more than one dive site around the island. We had only 3 days so we did 6 dives in very diverse areas, some were walls and some were lovely little coral "gardens", which were our favorites. The DM said there are plenty more sites but deeper than he was comfortable taking us since we are only OW certified. Since we stayed just off Menganjan Island at Waka Shorea, we were only 10 minutes away from a lot of fantastic dive sites in the national park. I think the next closest resorts are about 30 minutes from the park by boat.

No doubt there is a way to get around Menganjan in higher style than we did. But, that is how it worked out for us, and it is likely to be that way for most, judging from what I saw. These were not exactly the same sites, but within a mile of each other. It was good diving, but under the circumstances worth 2 or 3 days at most. The boat ride was probably more than 20 minutes and very wet at that. I kept my wet suit and hood on to keep warm.

what do you you mean about altitude,very interesting point really because i remember first time i dive at Tulamben going back south heading past amed heading right up past the valley of rice terraces is very high(be interesting to know attitude level at top) but knew it was ok

With Menganjen if coming from there to Tulemben whats the highest attitude level because i think there is a higher point of altitude

If you drive along the coast altitude change won't be an issue. Regarding your attitude level, hopefully it will be at it's highest!

From Tulamben to Menjangen is all sea level. Perhaps he meant attitude, not altitude.

Hi,
I meant Altitude as in height above sea level.
they are the same in term of menjangan and Tulamben.
But going from Menjangan to Tulamben, you will have to drive up to higher altitude thru the mountain first.
Usually it poses no problem at all, but recently a friend of mine has to go to Sanglah Hospital In Denpasar for recompression chamber, maybe because he did too many deep dives and drove away to higher altitude too soon.

So my point is you need to beware that going to tulamben from menjangan will take you thru the mountain first and if you just done some deep diving in menjangan, better take some resting time and enjoy the hotspring first.

If you're using north coast - according to my map, the highest altitude is 36 m asl only. There's small hills around gerokgak with the top vary between 63 - 102 m - but your car will not climb this hill.
If from Bali south to Menjangan- via lake buyan (very beautiful) - you may reach the altitude 1400 m asl.

waow, maybe you are right..

i lived in bali for a year, went there for diving almost for 4 years, drove menjangan and tulamben. Maybe i was not driving thru the right road, probably should have used the same map to get a better reference...

Anyway thanks for the info, I thought when i saw my empty plastic bottle shrinked a bit, i knew it meant something..
