Hello,

it is our first time that we visit Bali.
At first we will dive in the area of Tulamben and then we will go to Lembongan.
What is the simplest way to do this?

What is the best wetsuit for June?
We freeze quite quickly, so is a 7mm without a vest ok?

Best regards
Benjamin

I would not advise taking a 7mm to Bali. I have never needed anything more than a 3mm with a lavacore hooded vest on a night dive in June and I feel the cold quickly. Who are you diving with? If you find an operator with ops in Tulumben and Lembongan they should be able to organise your transfers for you. BDA/Scubali have ops at Tulumben and Lembongan and have always organised everything from airport pickup to dive site transfers and back to the airport for me or people I have referred to them. Diving Bali an Official Website of Bali Diving Academy very helpful people and long established in Bali

I feel the cold and wear a 7mm wetsuit all year around in Bali. There is nothing worse than feeling miserable on a dive because you are cold, and if the water is warm you can always flush through to cool off.

NB in High Season (June-Oct) I also wear a thin hood and a rash guard for Nusa Penida dives.

Airport transfer to Tulamben is easy, can be arranged by any transport company or any dive op in south Bali or Tulamben.

Getting to Lembongan from Tulamben, you got 2 options :

1. Transfer from Tulamben to Padang Bai + boat from Padang Bai to Lembongan (only one speed boat op at the moment : Scoot Fast Cruise)

2. Transfer from Tulamben to Sanur which is the main gateway to Lembongan (many speed boat ops)

You can arrange transfer by yourself or get it arranged by your accommodation / dive op in Tulamben. Google to double check the boat transfer prices : you might get cheaper prices from accommodation / dive ops.

Wetsuits :
Tulamben : shorty / full 3mm (water temp : +/- 30°C)
Lembongan / Penida : full 5mm or 7mm (water temp : +/- 26°C in average. Chances of cool thermoclines, rarely less than 22°C at this time of the year)

I thought you poms are tough and can brave the cold :D

Tulamben is warm 28-29c. Lembongan is cool 21-24c

5 years living in Bali, and my blood is a thin as water, then when it gets down as cold as 14c in Crystal Bay and you guide 3x dives per day, you never get warm, :cold: My husband was one of the few people in Bali who owned (and dived) in a drysuit in high season. Toasty warm :redhot:

Yes Ive experienced 14c at crystals too. Thats our regular winter diving temps in perth. As Im used to it now its 5 mm for me with a hoodie.. though Ive seen some divers there in rashie and boardshorts.. :shocked2:
On the other hand Tulamben is just like visiting the hot springs :D Yet Ive seen sidemount divers in drysuits there !! :shocked2: :shocked2: Maybe it was your husband..
