When I fly I bring two primary kits: A d420 with an Atomic Z1 safe second and a Phoenix Aqua Master with an AL Legend second. I also take a Z2 second as a spare. Plus assorted tools.

Great minds think alike....... I do the same as you. My backup 1st & 2nd stage is my pony setup. With my scuba-tool in my dry bag, I can easily swap out 1st or 2nd stages with my main reg setup if something breaks. Takes 5 minutes >> back in the water & don't miss a dive. Everything is excellent quality, always IP checked and fully interchangeable. Since my pony is just a 7 inch hose I can just use my octo hose to swap with my main hose. Everything is always with me 100% of the time, even on airline trips when I just put my pony tank in my luggage.Absolutely. .... I also typically dive with a pony bottle on which I use a high quality reg. That can also be quickly swapped out and used as a primary 1st or 2nd stage in a pinch.
