As mentioned earlier a BC is not a life jacket.
I have no experiance with the model you are looking at.
I dive a Halcyon Pioneer 36.
It fits me like a glove.
It fits me well because it can be adjusted to suit about all body types.
My head rides safely above water unlike some others with poor fits that actually have the shoulder portion of their BC elevated well over their ears during their surface float
I never feel like I'm being pushed face down while on the surface, but to be honest with you when I was doing my research on this subject for myself I was very concerned about that for a while.
Good luck to you.

Do you dive with a back inflated BC because if you do I would like to know which one as YES THEY DO push you face first plain and simple. That is not a cause of the tank it is how they inflate. I dive with weights on the bottom of the tank so it draws a bit down at the bottom which inturn helps keep me out of water heads up. To say they do not push your head forward is not a good idea. Try one and see for yourself. Just sit and hang in the water. If you come my way and your BC does not push your head forward I will pay for your trip. FOR REAL. Just send me a e-mail and I will meet you anywhere. Just to see this amazing BCD.

Cheers

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the unconscious diver will usaully be at the bottom (don't see the drowning connection)??? He needs to be rescued as it is. There is hopefully not many times that you need to be horizontal at the surface. Waiting for your buddy before you desend maybe. Just lie backwards, no problem at all. For surface swims, swim on you back.

Nonsense.

bubble blower:
"in the correct horizontal position" underwater will do anything different at the surface.

The diver puts him(her)self in a horizontal position, not the equipment. The equipment, if properly setup, will help the diver maintain that position.

A BC is not a PFD. I don't know how many times that has to be said. Apparently more than its been said already.

Enough on this useless topic...

I dive nothing but a back inflate (bp and wing to be specific) and it doesn't push me on my face. If you'll really pay for my trip PM me so I can start making arangements. I've wanted to dive BC for a long time but it costs a not so small fortune to get there.

Get out your credit card cuz I'm willing. to be fair though I need to tell you again that my rig IS back inflate and it does NOT push me on my face even a little bit. Therefor if you go through with this there is NO doubt that the trip is on you.

Some of the ill conceived bc's on the marked certainly will especially if you put all the weight in the pouches (just because they're there and regardless of where you need it) and use al tank with heavy exposure protection.

To having weight in the wrong place divers often have too much of it which encourages over inflation of the wing...face plant...

Also when the above happens the bc often has a tendancy to ride up around the divers neck further agrivating the situation...put a crotch strap on that puppy and keep it down where it belongs.

Ok I will send you a PM. I have no trouble in that. Are you going to put all your weight on your tank do you dive steel tanks if so dive with less weight on the tank area also do you dive a dry suit or wet ? also do you use a belt or intergrated. The reason I ask all the questions is to be fair hate to have you come all this way just to pay your own way. The lighter BC that have air go into the pocket area as to say Do help you up right more. I just was testing THIS weekend all kinds of BCD's as I will soon VERY soon be diver with parapelegics and this is very inportant and you all may want to read your manafactures guide lines and how they say it will work. It is not for a floatation devise as to say but it is however a floatation devise when a diver is in trouble. So yup I have NO trouble in what I said we test drove about forty different types so here comes the PM

Foaming at the mouth.

I dive a couple different rigs.

When diving shallow in hot weather I dive a al 80 with an h-valve, halcyon 36 pound wing with a stainless plate and 2 piece 7 mil wet suit.

I thread 4 pounds onto the upper cam bands and wear another 4 on a weight belt.

The rig I dive most often is simply double 104's, dry suit, halcyon 55 or 70 pound wing, the same plate and no additional weight. With full tanks this rig will actually pull me on my back if I let it.

I dive wet with a single low pressure Faber 95.
I use a 6lb back plate and 8lbs on my weight belt placed slightly away from the front of me.
As mentioned earleir I don't get pushed forward.
Could this be that my gear fits, is modular and is dialed in for me?
I think so.
I see you're in BC.I will probably be moving to Victoria after my son is done with school so mabe we can have an open bet for a soda.
Take care.

For those who insist that the back inflate does not throw one forward in the water but want to blame it on the tank I say do this. Put a tank on a back inflate bc and it will throw you forward, take same tank and put it on a jacket bc and it won't...end of that.

Note: this assuming no trim weights added to counter the original problem.
