Back inflates don't push you forward. Improper and over weighting does that. I also have an 11 page essay on back inflate/backplate and wing style BC set up, use, weighting, and options that I send to anyone who gives me an email address. It's too big to post here or send via private message.

I would be interested in the essay. Please send to Bfritz634@yahoo.com. Thanks

I use a back inflate (Hydros Pro) too, and initially had that same issue. I agree with others that you get used to it, but I also found that shifting some of your weights to the trim pockets, in back, helps too...
I don't every remember diving my Hydros Pro without weights in the trim pockets, most dives it's 6 lbs in the trim pockets [3 lbs in each pocket] , same weight as my SS backplates [well, close enough].
Don’t inflate it all the way. Kind of lean back on it.
Make sure you are weighted correctly, do a weight check.
Too many divers are overweighted and rely on their BC and pump it up at the surface , and 'face plant' forward [with a back inflate BC that is] , you will never go back to a jacket once you lean to dive your new BC.

Edit: The above post beat me to it .

Hi Jim, I'd love a copy if you could send one through. Just about to get my set up and would love to read through your thoughts. Cheers

I've been diving a Seaquest Balance rear inflate BCD for over 4 decades, 3 different sizes as I lost weight, from X-L to L to M-L which I use now.

Despite trying all sorts of configurations with weights, and using the bare minimum as well as more than I need to see the effects on the surface, and inflating my BCD only enough to keep me afloat, I have to literally fight to stop from toppling forward.

I have asked @Jim Lapenta for a copy of the essay, if I have any success I will post an update.
