Just got back from Pennyroyal this weekend. Worked with admissions for the Treasure hunt on Sat. & did a "try scuba" for some radio talk show hosts that came to the Treasure Hunt. They had a fantastic time! On Sun. I went on a dive with an instructor that I've worked with several times. We descended on the Blue Dolphin (cabin cruiser) at about 95ft. We then went North along the wall (towards the portion of the quarry not common to most divers- right behind the office). I went to 106ft, my buddy went to 109ft. The temp is still 42 degrees F (as always). We then went back to the Dolphin, then continued up the road to the fire truck & up into the shallows to tour around for a while. looks like the UH1 Helicopter is resting on it's side right now. Not sure how, or why :shakehead:. It was still quite a nice dive, though.

Tammy, glad SOMEBODY had a nice dive this weekend.
The wife and I were going to do the treasure hunt. The gear was already in the car. Then on Saturday morning she gets concerned that there might be too many divers running all over each other and destroying the vis.

Since I hadn't done one before, there wasn't much I could say to her.

So how many divers were there ?

For the Treasure hunt there were about 85 divers (110 divers at the quarry total). The other divers were cleared out for a little bit (they were aware this was going to happen when they arrived) during the hunt & were allowed to resume as soon as the hunt was over. To be honest, yes the vis goes to 0 in about the first 30 seconds of the hunt, but that makes it all the more exciting!:D The shallow end (where the hunt was being held is large enough to accommodate that many divers & they are good about spreading the golf balls out all over (in fact we'll probably still be finding them for months). What was amazing was that only a couple of hours afterwards, it was already starting to settle out (last year the vis was terrible for about 2-3weeks). I think the rain storms dumped some lime & minerals into the water Sat night & it helped to clear things up a bit. It was crowded, but manageable. I did the deep dive on Sun. & I could see the top of the Blue Dolphin (at about 90ft) from 50 ft. So in the deep end the vis was 40- 50ft.
