Oops, don't get your hopes up too far, Dave! I think you will still be pleased. In fact, I took a few pictures when I was out there today and just might post them.

But don't forget, this thread is about thew Avalon Harbor Clean-up so we should make sure we mention it every few posts.

OK, let's see if you can guess what the surprise is from this picture I took this afternoon.

First one to post here with the right answer is...

Is that a platform below the bottom step?

As I've not had the pleasure of participating in this, what do most people do? Get in the night before, or take a boat the morning of? If taking a boat the morning of, which boat and what time?

Check the starting time. If I remember correctly it is either 9:00 or 10:00 AM. Make a diving weekend out of it... come out Friday (if you can get off work) and dive Sat in Avalon Bay and perhaps another 1-2 at Casino Point followed by more diving on Sunday.

Hi Ken,

You can either go the day before so you don't have to get up early Sat. but you might have to stay Sat. night also cause most of the time you can't get just one nights stay with the hotels on the island. Or you can get up early like Robert & I & catch the 6:15 am boat & come back that evening.

Sounds like fun! It will be my first time on the cleanup, do I need to sign up with a buddy?
Bring a tank? Or rent?

You will need a buddy to do the dive, but can be buddied up at the event. On the tanks, your choice... bring your own, or rent a filled tank here.
