So who has a black eye??

The Scuba industry in Austin? From what I know (I don't have anything in that storage shed), those that do have something there have been able to get at it. Case in point, the booster at Oak Hill.

Yeah, and I know a few business partners of his (e.g. aquatoyz.com) that got screwed pretty bad. He still has the Univ. SCUBA O2 kit, too. And last I heard, he had a few things that belonged to John A.

Not that Riff.Diving shouldn't be mad (I realize he's out a Scubapro computer), :( but if it's any consolation it looks like he wasn't the only one who got a black-eye out of the deal. (You're not alone, son.)

Okay fellas, with Royal Scuba getting some good traction with just a soft opening, and with my (mega-sale) GRAND OPENING a short 10 days away, I'd like to say "howdy" and I'd like to welcome, and meet any and all fellow scubaboard dive brothers at ROYAL SCUBA's Grand Opening (from Thursday night the 27th, to Sunday afternoon the 30th).

All are welcome (shop owners, instructors, dive masters, narc-ers :11:, newbies, and the curious  .) As I said, all are welcome.

Your welcome to get more scoop from my Scubaboard profile, or from my site (ROYAL SCUBA). Some core basics: we are a NAUI shop, with two NAUI Instructors running our education center, and we have two Mares Master Lab Technicians servicing equipment. I'm very excited to crank-up a new LDS in my hometown, I've enjoyed working in service-oriented industries my whole life and I enjoy working with, and meeting new people. You'll never hear me claim to be an expert at diving, in fact, I tend to laugh at people you claim to be self-professed experts at anything. I consider everyone to be students of life, skill and trade. But you will hear me discuss, exclaim, and share my love for diving and the oceans. I'm a soap-boxer for those topics.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via Scubaboard, phone, or my website. But I'll tell you now, I like keeping things out in the open and shooting straight, I've nothing to hide, therefore I'm not a real big fan of Scubaboard private messaging.

As far as Austin Aqua Club and Glenn, I've attended both of his Friday informals to date. I've enjoyed meeting a few of you there. Your words and advice have been encouraging, welcomed, and appreciative. The Feb meeting had somewhere around 17-to-23 attendees over the whole evening. The March gathering had 7 divers plus Glen in attendance. He's hoping for a better turnout as the weather warms, and I noticed Mack mentioning that the next Friday get-together will be on April 4. I believe Glen's sincere about wanting to start up a local dive club (with no hidden agenda), but also, I think he's interested in knowing from the local dive community what their interests and wants are from a local dive club.

I don't have a dog in this fight......but I would like to thank Mack for recommending me to Scubaland in So Austin to take my scubapro regs to for their annual since AAS was doing whatever they were doing in January.....Jennifer was helpful and friendly and the shop seems to be active in local events...

Hey Royal Scuba, I had a spare 15 minutes and tried to drive by your place today. I guess I got turned around. I'm somewhat new to Austin. I guess I drove too far, because I found Clearwater Divers but no one was there. It's all dark. I'm curious about your Grand Opening. When are you guys planning on starting up your open-water classes? Do you only teach basic open water? I may be interested getting my NAUI Master Diver or Rescue Diver, can your instructors teach those levels? None of this stuff is on your website. ????

The instructors at Royal can teach those levels. As for Oak Hill Scuba, my NAUI instructors are experienced at teaching those certifications. In fact, we have a rescue class starting next week. Lecture on the 25th, Pool on the 29th and Lake on the 30th.

we can teach those certs. I have taught a number of dive master classes at the University over the past 3 years and I am currently teaching the master diver/rescue/nitrox class with Jamie and Peter Oliver. So OUR instructors are qualified and experienced in teaching classes, but basic open water and more advanced certs.

If you are looking for an advanced class, come to the grand opening march 27-30 and you can talk to me about it. Or you can just give the shop a call and we can take it from there.
