I would bring two tanks just in case we decide to make two dives....

Ana

If you are still planning on diving Crescent, you are only a few blocks away from LAguna Sea Sports where you can get an air fill (if you don't have 2 tanks). The downside is they are usually pretty busy during that time of the morning.

Guys; great dives! Nice to meet you all. Now I can match real faces and real names to avatars and usernames.

Buddies, watch for the mola mola! I wanted to take another look at the mola and found this cool pics http://www.earthwindow.com/mola.html#

Peace out!

Divebrazil and the rest of the gang. It was a great dive. If you were not diving today, you missed out.

Let see, what did we see?
Mola Mola out on Deadmans Reef.
One of the larger octopus that I have seen with a head that appeared to be 6-8 inches long on the way back (thanks divebuddysean). That guy was big
Sea Lions every where
Fish, lots of fish
Flat ocean.
No real surge to speak of
Clear water with 15 foot or better of visibility.

The Mola was cool. I learned that in Brazil it is called the Peixe-roda http://www.fishbase.org/ComNames/CommonNameSummary.cfm?autoctr=124481
I reported the sighing on the website that divebrazil has provided above. Now if Sean will provide the photo, they would like that e-mailed to them too.

It was a great day of diving !! It was nice to meet everyone that I didn't know, and see my other dive buddies as well!

Even though the surface swim was, ummm, like, forever on the first dive, the sea lions made up for it by playing with us on the way back in! I am sorry I missed the mola :-( but the dives were fun, the viz nice, the water not TOO cold, the dive buddies excellent, and the lunch great!

Now if I can just get all the sand out of my gear I can see if I got any decent photos ;) !

Thanks for the great day, everyone!

Sorry I missed the lunch! It was a very nice day! I really enjoyed the dives. I'm glad we all surfaced and were able to dive at Seal Rock. The mola mola was pretty unexpected. He was just floating there. Mel saw him and tugged me to attention. 2 black sea bass then a mola mola the next day? Am I lucky or what?

I'd like to hear about your 2nd dive and see the pictures. Here are the ones I took on our dives:

Nice to meet and dive with you guys!

Sean

Pasley, in Brazil we also call it peixe lua (moon fish), as I told you. So the connection is also Mola Mola = Sun Fish = Moon Fish = Peixe Lua.

Sean, great pics!

Well, looks like I missed a lot. But I spent the whole day with my son. More than made up for it. And I woke up at 10:30... :)

Funny thing about the Mola. In France, they're also called Moon Fish (poisson lune) because they just look like the moon from a distance.

I'll make the dive next month.

Glad you guys had a good day, and a Mola from the beach - awesome!

I was at work while you guys were diving :-( But I knew I would have to so I took the day off Friday and played hooky on the Great Escape with a new camera :-)
