if my Memory serves me right the folks that started Atomic are Ex-Scubapro Employees

Spouse/buddy and I have been diving B1's for several years, hundreds of dives. Sweet regs. B1's are no longer made, but as Web Monkey said, the design is essentially the same with just differences in material.
Spouse likes the swivel and wider exhaust tee options. I'm too dense to care.

Are Atomic's any good in cold water?

Cheers,
Patrick

That depends on if you consider 33°F cold or not. :D

A sealed model like the M1 (or a Z2 with the environmental kit) works nicely. The M1 has an extra heatsink so should be good for a little colder than the Z2.

My wife and I both have Z2's and SS1's with about 150 dives on them. These are our first regs so no comparisons but we're really pleased with them. One thing I have noticed is that when upside down it will get a few drops of water in it. No big deal to me but I believe some people consider that a negative.

My wife/buddy have been diving our Z2's for about 2 years now and love them. We both dove top of the line Scubapro for 25 years and still believe Scubapro is a fine regulator but we love our Atomics. Trish has had a problem with jaw fatigue for several years so I got the swivel upgrade. Not real pleased with the swivel. Some people may disagree but in my experience the swivel works great when not under pressure. Can move that puppy all over the place quite easily. Pressurize them and they are not much different than a standard hose in my opinion. Got rid of the swivels by swapping them out with Miflex hoses. Now that is a combo Atomic plus Miflex. Atomic should be the first company to make the Miflex their standard hose.

Atomic should be the first company to make the Miflex their standard hose.
I hope not. Though I think making it an option would be perfect. I went with a Miflex and found that in swift current when I was either going up current or across the current, the flexibility of the Miflex was actually a problem. It would cause the hose to whip pretty bad yanking the 2nd stage around in my mouth and also beating me about the head and face. Since, I tend to dive in current a lot, I switched back to the stock swivel hose. I do use a Miflex LP hose for my SS1 and love it.

We have a bunch of Atomic regs too damn really. Great regs, easy to work on. The Z2s breath just as nice as a T2. Shameless plug, I have a recently rebuilt B2 up forsale.

I love my B2. I've had it down to 96 feet in 43 degree water.
