I ended up with a moldable Mares for now since that is what the LDS had. I haven't put it on yet. It seems like it is a little smaller than the second stage outlet. I guess that is what it is called. Anyway, it will require some stretching to get it on. I can't do anything until next weekend. Pesky day job.

Is there anything special about the zip tie? The mouthpiece didn't come with one.

Yes … peace of mind! Do you want to discover at 30m below in strong currents that your mouthpiece is coming off? Or an OOA diver frantically pulls out your primary reg from its mouthpiece in panic while you are left clenching the rubber in your teeth?? A pack of 100 zip ties of 200mmx4.8mm costs less than $3 (here at least). You can also make do with 3.6mm ties…

Yeah, make sure you use one wide enough to fill the entire groove for it, to distribute the force without cutting the silicone.
Next, make sure the material is UV-resistant, which rules most of the white and colored ties. The non-UV-resistant ties become brittle and can fail unexpectedly. Cheaper is not necessarily better, especially when it comes to the locking action.

My wife and I have been happy using the Seacure moldable mouthpiece (X model, Size 2) with our Atomic regs. We usually trim about 1/2" off the back of the mouthpiece before molding them.

I plan to use a zip tie. I just wondered if it could be any zip tie or a special one.

Thanks. I just ordered up some of those. It looks like a lifetime supply.
I have some that I use when I like the low-profile appearance, and they're great. Just be advised, they're a LOT harder to cinch up to proper tension for a secure mouthpiece application. You need a small flat bladed screwdriver to apply counterpressure while you pull on the tail.
Maybe @Endler's has a better technique?

'Same. Use small flathead screwdriver to apply counterforce. 'Hold blade vertical so it doesn't slip.
