Just trying to earn a free TFX if anyone from Atomic would notice

Huish also owns Zeagle, and these regs have a seat saver like Atomic, and are diaphragm regs. @lexvil recommends them, and if I was smarter I'd follow his advice... But Zeagles don't have the squared barrell in the second stage, nor do they come in titanium (which I am in love with).

titanium is unnecessary, the extra corrosion resistance only matters if you are bad about rinsing gear.

My Zeagle regs are all well cared for. Soaked while pressurized, rinsed and allowed to dry. Oldest is over 20 years old at this point. One of the early DS-Vs (has the logo of DS-IV). The 2nds all have the post Huish Atomic upgrades.

I want titanium for one primary reason, weight. Gravity weighs upon me and titanium is much less weight in my dive bag. Two titanium regs with braided hoses weigh less than one similar brass and rubber regulator. Two for one. Because two is one and one is none.

Again, Scubapro, would you please give us back the titanium Mk 11. Because it is not just weight but also size, the Mk 25 is too big. But I will trade a NIB Kraken for either new or nearly new. Maybe .

Oops, did I help derail this thread into the titanium question? We did have a recent thread on that...

The OP's question was along the lines of (paraphrasing here): "Is it worth buying a premium piston reg vs the current workhorse diaphragm regs like Deep6 and Hog?".

How can we simplify this decision? All of these regs can do anything a diver would want. Maybe "better" does not matter much because the others are actually really well made. But I do think you get something for your money when paying for the pricier regs. They just are really nice regs...

I have 300+ dives on my Atomic B2 and SS1...no issues with rinsing by me or dive ops. I don't take any better or worse care of it than I would any other reg. My Atomic regs only require service every other year which saves me a little money.

Currently, Atomic is giving away a SS1 with the B2 purchase. A nice deal for those that want that type of rig. I like mine set up with the SS1...many on SB prefer other approaches. The new SS1 would be a quick and easy sale on ebay if you didn't want to use it.

I can highly recommend the Atomic B2. I got mine from Scubatoys @ 2010 and have had gotten great service from them...most recent service it was returned with a new reg bag. The original reg bag was raggedy with busted zipper. I appreciated the quality service enough to mention it here.

YMMV on all points...

I understand that you should soak/rinse Atomic 2nds only with them presurised - because the Seat Saver in the 2nds keep the LP seat open so water can run into the hose back to the 1st. So pressurise it (on a cyl) will seal the LP seat like when you are diving & make it safe for washing. This is important.

Or just keep a loop of hose above the second stage. Easy peasy.

Yet the water will still rise up into the hose up to the water level in the tub....then when you lift it out, the remaining water in the hose can trickle back inside the 1st Stage. In another chat; an Atomic user says he called Atomic HO & they said that it is best to soak it pressurised

I put my first stage on a shelf and the second stage hangs below that. Feel free to pressurize, but I've not found it to be an issue.
