Atom 2 deleting dives

I know this has been posted before, but I'm having a hard understanding why there is no way to clear out past dives from the Atom 2 (or is there)?

If you accumulate dives than download them into oceanlog wouldn't it make sense to be able to delete them from the Atom? Otherwise the next time you dive you have to download the same dives again. Am I missing something here?

The next time you go to download the logs, it should show your previous dives grayed out, indicating that you've already downloaded them.

and eventually the dc will roll over itself, thus eliminating the older dives

It might have something to do with restricting access to deleting dives because you might delete a dive to early and mess up the repetitive diving calculations or "no fly" count down.

Just a guess...
