i like the fake light canisters...

I'm one of your buddies and I don't use SM. Wait. Does that mean that I'm ...

Ah, it's ok. Maybe if I 'bump' into you on a dive you can show me what the GHAIS cause I couldn't figure it out by the description.

If by "GHAIS" your referencing the DSS GHA or Glide Harness Adapter we do have and have had a video detailing this particular item for a long time.

Yes I did. Really meant "GHA is..." but with the phone and autocorrect well...

Thanks for the video. Seems useful. I will check it in person when I dive with @Basking Ridge Diver again.

Funny thing about that GHA. I know I would have found that extremely handy when I first started using a BP/W. I didn't have anyone around here to help me tweak it to fit right, so I had to go on SB posts and YouTube videos and I thought I had it right. It certainly worked and I could insert my fist under the shoulder straps, like is shown in the pictures. But, over time, I tweaked the fit more and more and I finally ended up with it setup in a way that I definitely think is better. And now, the shoulder straps are loose enough that I would have no use for the GHA. In fact, on a Blue Reef back plate that I use for doubles I recently put tri-slides on the back side of the waist belt slots specifically to stop my shoulder straps from moving around too easily and getting out of adjustment from where I want them.

Don't get me wrong. They aren't loose when I'm all buckled up and in the water. But, before I hook up the crotch strap and buckle the waist belt (or after undoing them), they definitely have plenty of slack for donning/doffing.

True story: When I did the Rescue Diver course, I did it in my BP/W with a single tank. The instructor knew I used a BP/W and suggested that I borrow an integrated BCD from the shop for the course, so that I could handle the in-water exercises that involved taking my rig off in the water while doing a diver tow, giving rescue breaths, etc.. I told her I would be fine. Sure enough, the exercise for bringing a non-responsive diver to the surface, towing them, giving rescue breaths, and removing my rig was no problem. I was out of it just as quick as the instructor who demonstrated and the other student in the class, who was using an integrated BCD.

Thanks, Stuart for the info. All of my plates have tri-glides on the back of the plate where the straps go through the slots. I have not had any issues with the strap fixed except when moving up in exposure protection. When I went to a dry suit I did have to add a bit to the shoulders to get my arms in but I leave it there for use down to 3mm and rash guard without issue and never fuss with the sizing.

I could see the GHA being useful to someone who dives several different exposure suits or the plate is shared among different sized users such as rental or instructors and like a "quick" way to adjust. Actually, the tri-glide doesn't take long to adjust, it is just a bit more work with stiff strap and tight fit but as you know once you get the sliding started it goes easier.

It's nice to know what's out there even if it's not for you.

Halcyon has their fair share of gimmicky items.

Like this -- Easy Grip Adapter? Defender Pro spools - Halcyon Dive Systems

I gotta admit though, Halcyon makes some nifty gear. I dove with a Flare the other day and was pretty impressed, but the zero spill beam was very very unusual to me. It was like the light would light up one small spot of the cave and leave everything else dark.

I've gotta show you my Focus 2.0. It's real good.

But yea the goofy reel spool things and the weird goodman handle, canisters with no switches, and the handheld lights aren't for me.
