Latest discussion involve the possibility of a parking area near the north side of the marina. But doesn't it look so much better with the entry and the circle so free of cars? Of course all the cars on the road outside sort of distract from the image....

I have been using the empty lot on the North corner since last summer but it is not that large. Security doesn't bother me as I walk through the high dollar side as many recognize me but I expect as traffic increases they will restrict cross through access.

Now that the city is running the former API side of the marina (boat ramp side) the restrooms are now locked. Seems another outfitt controls the building and they have no staff on site so there is no need for banjos.
The former Fonatur side's building has a small facility in the middle of it that may be open but no toilet paper is provided. Bring your own and if you are lucky it may be unlocked.

I’ve been diving out of Puerto Abrigo the last 2 years, so only went through Fonatur once this August, when on a snorkeling trip. Our guide said that the woman who took care of the bathrooms had been in an accident just outside of the marina (she was on a scooter) a few months earlier. And since there was no one to clean/care for the bathrooms, they were closed. They also said that the water for the showers was turned off early in the day, so no shower either. I loved being able shower right after a dive when I dove out of there in 2022.

The version I posted was from a group of marina staff we spoke to yesterday, which version is correct is open to question but the doors remain locked.
Additionally the staff at the entrance are enforcing the license plate rules and denying entry unless there is current plate on the vehicles. A large number of scooters and cars now are parking out front and hiking in.

The police often do check stop just after fonatur to look for no plates or licences. Now they can just bring their flat deck tow truck to the front of fonatur and load up all the non plated motos there....:wavesmiley:

It would be better if the Armada would sieze any non permitted boats in the park l

They locked the bathrooms?

Can you at least still buy a bottle of tequila?

The worst part is that boat owners can do nothing - you make any waves at all and they threaten you with taking your boat slip away..... So glad I sold and got out of there.
