hahaha... ok, no b.s. i promise

i sincerely forgot about the Australian meaning of the word "root"

but i get nervous anytime one of your fellas calls me mate

(not in the Biblical sense, one hopes?)

ahhh Andy... to be called by an aussie mate is a good thing,.... everyone should be so lucky

now if only we can teach you to really appreciate cricket... which position would you like?

silly mid on or

short square leg??

i'd prefer to bowl.... they get all the glory!

Andy is a silly, I just know it.

H2Andy:

Just so you know Andy, the silly is called that for a very good reason.
One must be 'silly' to play in that position which is about 5-10m from the batsman.

Now I don't know if you've ever played cricket or seen a cricket ball, or been hit by a cricket ball.
But a baseball it isn't, it will crush bones if hit hard enough..

So the silly of course is at most risk of being hit with ball, after it has been bludgeoned by bat, which bludgeoned some fast bowler's 90mph pitch.

The silly is by nature a brave man or silly man.
He is often swaddled in helmet, thick pads and 'armour'...
Silly generally also has very good reactions, so that he may catch the ball.

actually, i own a cricket ball (yes!), an England shirt from the SouthAfrica ICC Cup
in 2003 (yes!) and a picture taken by a friend of the mural at Lord's Cricket Ground:

therein ends my physical conections to cricket.

other than on t.v., i've never seen a match. i've never played it.

for some reason, i was just fascinated by the rules of the game, and its
pace. it's perfect for following a test match over a few days on the news.

i seriously dislike the 20/20 matches

the test series are a nice way to waste a day or five... take a book and relax

the day/nighters limited matches are great - providing you have a good opposition
