This has been a valuable thread for me. The first time I was really without any visual reference was in the Bahamas when the bottom was about a 1000' below and I was facing away from the wall. That was a real mind bender.

My ears aren't sensitive enough to use that method but I do remember, as well I should, how to fly instruments. So, I tried that. It worked; but not very well. Now I realize, thanks to your posts, that it just takes practice and more practice.
