Because until I get opinions of those who've been there, I will continue to have nightmares of running into divers with freakishly large heads.....

Howcome all your images in your album don't render? I am getting the little blue (no, not Viagra pill) graphic with a question mark in it indicating all images are broken.

hahahahaha freakish large heads eh?! The gallery is still down, look here for some of the pix (taken in the last DOR in Anilao May 19-21, 06) with Mike Veitch, Diver Dennis, Scuba Si and the PPDs http://www.flickr.com/photos/11459578@N00/

We were in Apo about two years ago, we stayed on the island and did our diving with Paul's and stayed at Liberty's Lodge. It's nice being 'right out there on the island' but if you are looking for a variety in food and lodging, look to the mainland with the above mentioned places. There is some very good diving to be had there, I would go back again someday!

Thanks guys for all the input. Checked the other threads recommended by Chip...what an adventure to dive Coconut pt. Hopefully the weather cooperates next week.

This coming from someone with rebreatherSUPERHERO as a username!!!! :) :) :)

IMO, the macro in anilao is definitely better (I'm talking benthics and inverts, the small reef fishes are about the same at both locations). But the large schools of fishes you get in Verde are hard to find in anilao.

I have t agree son, fantastic macro in Anilao, much better than Dumaguete. Apo was nice but PG and Anilao are much better IMHO.

spoon and I summed it up as this: Apo is a great place to dive. But with regards to the coral/macro there's nothing there to see that you won't see at PG & Anilao. I went to Apo to enjoy the schools of fishes and I loved every minute of it (especially the curious blue trevallies coming up close to check us out!). And we saw 3 turtles in one dive which was awesome! Saw no sharks though. :(

Someone did that to me on my last dive (tis easier to blame others) The Turtle is interesting in that it appears to give one ample warning of a flooding scrubber as the breathing resistance gradually becomes slightly laborered and the right counterlung volume becomes noticeably smaller and smaller.

Since Dennis thinks Apo is not as good for macro as PG or Anilao, that leaves the question, how is Anilao compared to PG?

In 6 days of diving PG, I didn't find any flambouyant cuttelfish, nor ghost pipefish or pygmy seahorses or any seahorses for that matter. I am returtning to PG the end of next week and hope I can get some HD video footage of the above.
