I just purchased an Apeks TX100 on eBay that was advertised as an ATX100. I already paid and now the seller has stated his mistake. I paid $300 for it, unused. Other than the TX being bigger than the ATX, are there any other differences? I'm either asking for a partial refund or a complete refund and not buy the unit. What do you think?

Not entirely sure, but the ATX100 uses the FST first stage and the 2nd stage is lighter than the TX version. I think the TX100 uses the DST first stage.

The big difference is the second stage. The ATX is significantly smaller. They use a similar, if not identical, first stage.

$300 is a good deal for an ATX100, and it's still a good deal for the TX100. I wouldn't mind using the bigger reg as a primary, but I bungee my backup and my fairly large TX40 gets in the way sometimes. Buy an ATX backup if you bungee and you're all set. I'd go for a partial refund though.

Incorrect. The TX-100 and the ATX-100 first stages are the same (they might have used the removeable orifice on the ATX-100 first stage, I dont recall). The only difference is the second stage.

I had a TX-100 for a while...I liked it. However, this sale was misrepresented to you, and you deserve either a full refund, or partial refund if you plan on keeping it. I would say strike a deal with the seller for a partial refund ($75-100), and keep the reg. Thats a good deal. Then, if you want an ATX, you can go out and get one.

My LDS says that they're the same price.....mind you.....they also said they were asking 30% more than what they're at now (after I had to go run around the world getting other prices.......)

Leisure Pro is selling the ATX100 for $449.95.
The cheapest place in the US that I'm aware of has it for $395.
If the critter is unused I'd recommend to negotiate for as big a refund as you can get while still keeping the reg. ;)
Also check it out good to make sure it really is "unused".

He called me this morning and told me he would refund all of my money. I asked for a discount, but he thinks he can get more than even what I paid. I only paid what I did because I thought it was an ATX and not a TX. The guy is in HI, so after shipping, it was still a good deal, but not an eBay great deal. The unit was hanging on the wall as a static display and is unused. He'll have to beat $300 and keep the shipping cheap to make it a deal over a boxed unit.

I'd probably keep it. If you do send it back, be sure he refunds *all* the money you originally paid him, *plus* the shipping back to him.
