I've been diving the DC 200g jumpsuit with the 200g vest underneath it, with heavy polarfleece pants and a polarfleece turtleneck, and sometimes with a heated vest instead of the Thinsulate, and it's not warm enough. The DUI 400g is WAY warmer than the combination of all of the above, but it looks like I won't be able to use it because of the way it's cut in the back.

Nick, you should remind them of their middle name. Seriously, it's the first thing you see on their website.

What, unable ? un-willing ? un-inexpensive ? un-cooperative ?????

The TPS Thinsulate Extreme feels pretty warm, but it's different in an 80 degree pool than 50 degree ocean. Since you mentioned AWS, Frank doesn't actually like them, he says the quilting is known to break up. I think he recommends the Bare Hi Loft undies. I haven't heard much about those, however.

For me, the TPS extreme is only good down to a measly 57 or so honestly, maybe 54 for 1-2 dives per day. The 400 as Lynne said is *way* warmer but does inhibit mobility

I am really puzzled as to how the wkpp folks manage to dive the 400g undergarment/tls350 cave cut combo and still get good mobility. Plus the butt panel on the latest versions of the 400g undergarment is just amazingly huge. It's as if they stuffed a pillow back there.

DUI's attitude has put me off a bit recently, but I'll probably still end up getting a TLS350.

I've never had a problem with my DUI liteloft extreme. During deco stops or any other times. My wife has a problem staying warm but when I put her in a weezle extreme she did not complain about being cold, she actually said she was quite warm. As far as the bouyancy issue we were able too shed a few pounds (some of which I'm sure was do too her comfort) For me, I find out of the water it is too warm, but I work as a contractor in central Ore. 30-40* in the winter and am very comfortable in the cold climate. I think a weezle would do her great justice! If I were too buy one for myself it would be a two peice, but for mama it would be a one peice for sure. Stop by Hoodsport'n'dive tell them Joe sent you and try one out!

it is really not that bad for me. It's worse on the surface, but if I close the d/suit exhaust valve and put some gas in the suit, not so bad.

Messing with stages/long hose clipping is worse on surface but once I descend I dont really notice too much difference really.

I have the TPS Extreme with vest. They are only 200g Thinsulate and aren't warm enough for the OP's area.

Exactly. She has a DC 200gm, and a vest, and argon, and is definately freezing in 48F water. The DC suit isn't new, but for the price I'm not replacing it with the same for her to just freeze 10mins later in a dive.

Myself, I have a 400gm DUI gumby and its warm but based on my experience with the cut it will definately hurt her already bouyant legs issue. If she could get it into the cave cut TLS350 at all. The Tls350 fits great; its just finding a non-gumby undergarment to go in it that's our issue.

Its not like she's abnormal for a 5'4" woman size or weight-wise.

I'm good to 54F in the TPS extreme. 2 dives. But really the 400gm is noticably warmer. I'm sure she'd love one, if it would actually fit better than her sleeping bag.

Lot's of practice :)

Of course, over time, you learn how to fudge the numbers on the suit order so that it will accomodate the 400g. Some of the divers also layer under the 400g and a couple use the suit heater vests also. So "cave cut" is relative to the undergarment(s) that you wear the suit with.

That said, Casey still wears gaiters.
