Man these threads are a riot.

STA v no STA. DSS Torus, etc.

For me it's simple.

No bungies (sorry they suck and yes I have put them in the water)
Streamlined design
11" holes
Elbow fitting
No BS

A few companies stick to this and that's who I buy from. I'm also with Vayu on the STA being more stable. I've done it both ways with my Pioneer 27.

As for the Torus single wing, nice design, but I've not seen a pic of one with the 11" holes so I reserve judgement. My Torus doubles wing is awesome. Used it yesterday with some LP95s and it worked nicely.

Ya'll have a nice day, ya hear! ;)

All DSS wings use the 11" spacing ... I use mine interchangebly with Halcyon and Oxycheq rigs without any issues.

Nice try but no prise. These look like the Halcyon cam bands & buckles that do not require any velcro.

You get 1 more chance so better work on it a little harder... you're making this seem complicated.

In spooky voice... "seee thread 95... look it's velcro."

I will say student wear BP/w do R & R water skills is more difficult...
Is possible but need good training...
I never used bp/w train OW student

Yes, remove & replace can be a bit trickier I think due to crotch strap.
Either weight belt is above the harness (put on last) which makes weight-belt remove/replace easy but the harness harder, or it's below the harner (under) when it's the other way around.

Still doable, but maybe a little more fiddly.

Also if you use a steel backplate, then remember to keep hold of your gear when you do the BC removal, or you're going up to the surface :)

The remove and replace skill is also easy to do on a BP/W just by unbuckling the waist strap, grabbing the valve and bringing it over your head. Its also not a particularly useful skill in real life, however. As training it is better just as a comfort-in-water test. The only time you're likely to want to do that in a real situation is when you're going through a restriction that is smaller than your profile with the tanks on and you'll have way more experience and training and you'll probably be sidemount diving anyway...

How about remove of BC @ the surface though -- say for getting onto a small boat/inflatable.

If you dive wet, and have the weightbelt over the crotch strap, it's a bit more fiddly to get the BC off in the water. Not necessarily difficult, but more fiddly.

Sorry SangP, you're just showing that you don't know what you're talking about and now you've waisted your 2nd chance.

The Halcyon cam bands are not typical. Since you used them to make your point I'm surprised you didn't know that. Instead you're spewing BS.

The Halcyon tank straps have shorter tails than normal. Halcyon attribute's their ability to use a shorter than average tail to the buckles. Because of the short tail the Halcyon trim weight pockets coupled with the Halcyon tank straps work together to make it possible.

With typical buckles and typical tank straps this is not so easy. Of course one could buy the Halcyon cambands and trim weight pockets but then that's not so simple is it?

All I did was caution someone that's it's not as simple as another suggested by saying it's a non issue (Post #63).

Then you come along and call me a Phoney (Post #70). You own me an apology!!!

CHILDREN.

Play nice.

If the ridiculous levels of attitude and posturing displayed in this thread don't completely disappear right now, some user titles will be changing to "NA" for a while.

Look I'm not going into this any further, neither will I change what you want to believe but there is no such thing as a short tail Halcyon cam band cus I own a Halcyon eclipse.

Nuff said

i would think weightbelt under the crotch strap would be more fiddly, since you really want the weightbelt off first in the sequence...

i know i've done this before (in whitecaps as well), but i don't remember it very well... i just remember us joking around about how we needed our snorkels... haven't been diving on any little boats lately...
