mksmith713 - i live just south of Denver, Co. I have left my laptop in my passenger seat many times and never had any problems. I usually cover up or hide anything of value but there have been times... maybe i've just been lucky but Colorado must be a good place to live for this type of thing.

sath2owannabe - sorry for the broken record thing about crime, just clarifying. My GF and I read these posts together sometimes and we both feel that way. I'll stop being annoying about it <grin>! I guess I'm just getting anxious to get to Bonaire (in 4 weeks, yeah!), then i'll my first hand experience. I want no crime, beautiful weather, friendly people, low costs, and a sugar plum garden outside our hotel....

No problem - I would just hope that no one would let it bother them to where it took away from a wonderful experience.
I hope your trip is great!
Let us all read about it here when you get back.
If I can't go again myself right away I can at least enjoy it vicariously.

We just came back and were told to leave trucks open. Never had a problem. We stayed at Buddy Dive Resort, their trucks are clearly identified and we were told that we don't even have to carry a driver's license. We usually had some cash with us and stores had no problem accepting wet cash.

Scuba drum.. There's an old saying.."When in Rome do as the Romans do".
I've been going to Bonaire well over 20 years. I can honestly say I've never had anything stolen out of my vehicle at any dive site. I leave the windows down, I leave an old t shirt, towel, old sunglasses & put my keys in my BC. That's it..This is the accepted practice on Bonaire. My advice would be to follow it.

There is crime on Bonaire, too much broken window glass at the dive sites to deny it. However we always leave the windows on our truck rolled down and we never have any issues. Our rule is to take only what you need to dive, plus one towel and water. I bought a credit card size dry case and put my DL and a twenty in it, clip that and my keys to my BC and that's a wrap. Just be smart and Bonaire will be a wonderful vacation. :palmtree: Bob

Some of you have seen me suggest these before, but I think they are great.
Aquapac Small Whanganui - 654
I've had mine down to 100' and not a drop inside. They are just the right size for a set of keys, a little cash, etc. And they are pretty cheap.

Thanks wannabe, that is EXACTLY what I want... have one on order now!
That'll make the female member of my trip happy that we can take a few things and they won't get wet!
Coolness!

You actually dive with that one bob? I have one similar (just not clear) that I keep my insta-camera in but I wouldn't trust it taking it "downunda"... but admit that I've never tried taking it while actually diving.

It's always worked good for me. I clip it off on the D ring on my right hip and stick it under my waist band. I only dive with it on Bonaire and only put paper money and my DL in it. :palmtree: Bob
