Seems like we're gathering a great group for this trip!! I'm glad you're going to come down to join us!!

Heh heh, we've created "monsters" (of the diving kind of course) -- I can barely keep up!

I'm so pumped that Kathy is joining us! This is going to be so much fun....we're taking over the Spectre!

And Nick, don't worry about invading the chica charter....we like diving with fun divers....male, female, whatever, I don't really care as long as you don't suck the joy out of my diving

Invasion of small girls with big tanks. World is coming to an end...We will have a special surprise for Fabio...

Thanks for the welcome! I'm so excited to meet all you cool So Cal DIR guys/gals :D!!

Well, you know ... I will be checking to make sure you are breathing exactly 32% nitrox on every dive, and that you never get more than 20 degrees out of trim!

And I will take the chance to hide behind a kelp bush every so often and see how long it takes you to realize I am gone :)

heh heh, I try not to suck the fun out of anything ...

Now I do assume you are on the dec Vision/San Miguel trip, right ?

Oh jeez. When is this? Fabio sounds really interesting....

Fabio is my bestest friend :) haha

Best quote so far from Fabs

Jamie: This is my first trip after class
Fabio: What class ?
Jamie: Open water
Fabio(stunned): What, with all that gear ???

Haha um, like what ? a BC, bottom timer and a light ? Oh yeah, she had a tank, fins and mask too :)

This should be a great trip, Kathy. Look forward to meeting you!

You'll be there too? Great! - I'm so excited to meet all you new So Cal DIR friends!!!

To me one of the most exciting things about the DIR path is the network of solid partners around the USA & world!

Dove with the GUE Philippino Gang last summer in SE Asia - they showed me an amazing time!!!

Now off to meet the So Cal Gang! I can't wait to have DIR friends near Catalina :D!

Have heard there are UTD/GUE divers across Europe.

Does anyone have any great DIR travel stories?

I am moving to Germany next June you will have to put a group together to come do some dives!!! I cant wait to get there and find the 'locals' as well.

Great DIR travel stories?

Well, there was meeting up with the lone DIR diver on Maui, and scootering the Carthaginian from shore.

There was going down to Monterey for the first time, and being introduced to scooters, lent doubles, and escorted by a great, happy group of enthusiastic divers for three fantastic days, including a fabulous day on the Escapade -- all arranged, organized and sorted by the Monterey folks. (Some of whom have subsequently become very close friends.)

There was going down to LA and diving from Laguna Beach to Casino Point, all with similarly trained folks, who lent us tanks and weights and took time off work to make sure we got to dive a lot of places and see a lot of things. (Some of these people have also become close friends.)

There was the DYFO trip in June -- a 3 day Channel Islands Charter with 23 DIR divers on board and 19 scooters (with 25 batteries). What fun, to be able to reach out with your eyes closed, grab the nearest diver, and jump in the water with him, knowing you were going to have a great, stress-free dive!

There was a week on the Red Sea Explorers boat that we just came home from. Everybody knew our gear, knew our protocols, and knew we were squared away and could be trusted, so we got as much (or as little) company and guiding as we wanted.

How about putting together a cave diving trip last November, and having people I'd never met join us -- but we all knew what kind of training we'd had, and we spent a fantastic week together.

There are so many places you can go, and know you can connect with folks you'll enjoy diving with. It's a powerful system.
