Can I test through the regulator or does it have to be at the tank?
The unit tests easiest at the tank. You'd need extra equipment to hook it up to a reg hose.

Liveaboards commonly refill tanks at divers' respective stations, then leave regs off, so it's easy to test from the valve before hooking up.
 
DD they leave the reg off??? You mean I am going to have to do something besides fall in the water ??
