Weight = the force applied to mass by gravity.

So again, if I tape a scale to my feet and jump out of a plane, am I weightless? If so, why am I falling?

Someone WAY smarter than me already did.

You will most certainly not be weightless when the scale hits the ground. :D

I used to rockclimb a lot. Often got asked if I had ever hurt myself falling. Always replied that falling was painless but stopping hurt like hell. ;)

It started out by asking what a divers weight would
be under water and what would it take to lift that
diver to the surface. From there as with all SB posts
it contorted into such subjects as rashes, weightless
reasons,rock climbing,space travel,alien craft, and
duct tapeing bathroom scales to someone and tossing
them out of an airplane. Just consider it inexpensive
entertainment John.
