LDS yesterday was $3.59 for your choice of soft or coated hard.

The Enviors have more to do with it, Canada produces most of it now because, like steel and other mining, we have chased it all away. Add electric cars and battery demand for lead and the transportation cost and you have to keep a good eye out for deals. You could always put some Iron ore in your belt, good luck:wink: Just remember bottled water is more expensive in some places.

wtf is an envior? :shakehead:

Tree hugger?

My LDS in town sells the hard for $2.50 per pound + 7% tax, this are made locally some where on the island. My friend got 20 lbs. on ebay for $26 + $10 shipping, not a bad deal. It all depends where you are and where the weights are made and how much it cost the LDS to get them.

I used to dive for lead fishing weights - there were places where you could easily pick up 5-10 pounds on one tank of air. I melted them down on the kitchen stove and recast them into new weights.

Sometimes lead fishing weights will have an air pocket filled with seawater, and that can explode and spatter molten lead all over you and the kitchen ceiling.

Our local guys go get the lead from the tire shops, melt it down and make lead shot for shot shells. Wheel weights are easily available.
