His scenario does include an 18 hour surface interval. But a reality check is always useful. If it is safe to fly (ascend to 8000') 18 hours after a dive, then a shorter time is needed for a 700' ascent and the time needed to finish the dive, get off the boat and go play would suffice. But the reality check goes the other way too. It would mean the dives were not aggressive with a nice safety stop and no after dive exertion was done (as all dives should be).
 
Yeah, their plans to ascend the morning after shallow diving seem prudent. The only caution I can see from her post would be the morning flying home. I'd want at least 12 hours before taking a island hopper flight to Honolulu, and 18 hours before boarding the big jet to the mainland.
