C&N out of Mt Dora used to be the closest, but they closed. I would get tanks in the town you are staying in.
FWIW, Alexander Springs is my favorite Florida Spring. Be sure to swim close to the edge and look under the canopy for lots of cool critters. Check out the eel grass for shad and a few exotics like Neon Tetras and Fancy Tailed Guppies.
Not a prob. I see a lot of people drag all their gear down to the water's edge and assemble there. I find it easier to gear up in the parking lot, wet suit and everything and then walk on in to the spring. If you only do one tank there, be sure to head over to Blue Spring in Orange Park and check it out as well. It's a lot deeper and the walk is a bit more challenging, but the dive is beautiful.
Closest Dive Shop or place to rent tanks?
Thx!
