IRDA on Mac can be tricky, too. I'm not a Mac expert, but as far as I know, not all IRDA dongles work on Macs. Scubapro is selling one that should work on Mac for sure. But there are others that work, too.

I was never able to get it working on my mac (annoyingly) despite many attempts. In the end I gave up and used an old work laptop to connect. To be honest I only wanted to change the name and contact details because my luna was second hand, it was so much hassle to use this software I never actually adopted it.
Just hope that when ScubaPro bring out their next gen computers this old antiquated software (and connection method) gets replaced.

I JUST pulled up Redstone Insider Preview build 11082 and Smarttrak loaded. Previously I had tried reloading Smartrak several times (admin, non-admin, new download, etc). I checked Win 10 with [sfc /scannow]. Nothing worked. Now it works. I did nothing other than make a last try to see if it would work. There were no updates. Go figure.
With Smarttrak now working on this preview version I can confirm that the IrDA process is working.
Note of interested - IrDA did work on the preview PRIOR to the release. Some how a decision was made to yank support completely. I've called about it and all I get is typical customer support niceness and ignorance, like they probably haven't gotten a few thousand calls about it.

FYI, ScubaPro's "new" software that works on the Mac is called "ScubaPro LogTRAK" and should work with UWatec's USB to IrDA dongle at least. However they have a limited number of IrDA dive computers that they support and the Aladin Sport (as mentioned by the OP) may be too old. I've never found a clear description of which ones work and which don't - but all the Galileo versions like the Luna do so you could download it and try it out and see.
You can use DiveLogDT from the Mac App Store to download IrDA based dive computers. You will need a "compatible" IrDA dongle - we supply our own drivers. We don't support setting the name and/or contact details though so it may not be worth it for you.

Thanks for the info regarding Mac support, but yes like you said I already changed my name and contact details, so terms of ongoing use and logging my dives I use the old fashioned paper method and also keep a track on my dives on ScubaEarth. So I am not really that bothered about downloading the data from my Luna. But I do expect Scubapro to update this connection method when they bring out their next gen dive computers. But lets wait and see.

Wow, are forums helpful sometimes!
I had spent literally all day trying to get my Aladin Sport to download dives. The PC showed the IR reader was there but it just would NOT talk to the dive computer.
It turned out that the computer was installed upside down in the rubber boot. The buckle was at the bottom when it should have been at the top!
What kept me from trying this for so long was that the Aladin WAS sensing IR input (showed the icon on the screen), but it was so little as to be non-functional. This happened by way of the beam refracting off the inside of the clear circumference of the middle part of the computer itself.
Sometimes if it doesn't work, you gotta turn it upside down!
