My buddy and I were wondering about our air consumtion rate and how it compares with the "average". I'd like to know if using 550 psi in 108's to get to the first Y at Jackson blue would be good bad or ugly? thanks

I'm hitting the 2nd 't' with that amount of gas or less in HP130s(similar volume to pumped 108s).

I'm not entirely sure this is the best method of comparing air consumption though... :D

SAC rates depend on the water temp, experience, gear, and flow/current for sure. But with my buddies this is a general scheme...

your kidding?? >1cf/min
whoa that's alot 0.8 to 0.9
eh? 0.7 to 0.8
getting decent 0.5 to 0.7
good 0.4 to 0.5
great 0.3
godlike 0.2
gills <0.2

What is your SAC rate typically?
I am going to be at JB in a couple of weeks time. In the past I have used around 1100 psi in 104's to reach the second T but I understand the flow is now next to nothing? My SAC runs around 0.6.
Would be nice to see a bit more of that cave.

Have also heard that you breathe like a girl

Typically around .4 -.5 and that gets the 2nd 't' to 1st 't' circuit finished and us back at the cavern 75-80cf lighter than when we began.

Flow is way down at JB, but the recent rains have increased it a bit - still not pumping by any means...

I can typically get to the 1st T in about 400 (average between each tank) with sidemounted 108s, but I dive JB weekly. I've actually used less gas to get there on some occasions.

And yes, Mat does breathe like a girl. :D

There used to be a time when JB had normal flow that you would just barely make it to the first T on a set of well pumped 104s,and you'd exit on a few 100 psi.

I've heard that...you forgot to mention that was on a scooter...

I remember after the flood of 98 when the aquifer was well charged, the flow was on steroids. I was using a fast DV3X,and in the bedding plane area before the T,I was on speed 9 and having to pull along the floor as well-it was insane.
