You could say the same thing about the website you link, as they're trying to sell you Halcyon gear. A hint that this configuration is not with the recreational diver in mind, is the recommendation to use a bottom timer and dive tables.

GUE/UTD/DIR aren't 'locked in' to Halcyon. Halcyon was just designed to reflect the values and standards of 'DIR' diving. There are many other manufacturers who create gear that meets those same standards. I don't see that the website concerned makes any specific reference to buying Halcyon gear. The fact they feature that gear probably represents a form of sponsorship - that's hardly a new concept in diving.

A hint that this configuration is not with the recreational diver in mind, is the recommendation to use a bottom timer and dive tables.

I did my Open Water with bottom timer and tables. So do all my students. So did just about every diver I know. What's "not recreational" about using a bottom timer and tables??!!??
