Yeah there's another current thread about hose configurations I'm pretty sure - or maybe I just read an old one. No shortage of discussions on that topic. I'm currently listening to the audiobook "Scuba Confidential" which discusses the issue to some degree. So far, it's pretty good if you've got time to read or listen to it!
I did read that book. It was a good read for a beginner like me - lots of food for thought. I understood the potential benefits that are laid out for the long hose/short hose config. However, at this time, I still don't feel the need to convert for the type of diving I'm doing - doesn't mean I won't change my mind at some point.

You had to re-pair to a PPS transmitter after changing the battery?
No, I meant that with a low battery, my DC would lose connection with it. It has been very reliable with my Perdix and previously my Aeris A300 CS.

Gotcha. I also very occasionally will have a momentary signal dropout.

I was just responding to the post where a Suunto literally had to be re-paired between computer and transmitter. With the PPS transmitters, I haven't heard of anyone actually losing the pairing itself and having to re-pair the computer to the transmitter.

Ah, I see how I contributed to the confusion. I'm not all that familiar with Suunto, but to require a re-pairing is really a major flaw.
