If you go out of Hatteras, the water is not colder than Morehead; it is in the Gulf Stream waters. Hatteras is closer to Gulf Stream than anyplace farther north than southern Florida. Actually some of wrecks are dived from operataors in both areas.

Thanks to everyone that gave some advice. We have decided to wait to plan a trip to NC until everyone has their AOW and can feel comfortable doing those dives.

Wow, what great advise everyone has. Makes my job easy. One additional bit of advise would be to inquire about guided dives. When a diver calls me and gives me your scenario, I typically recomend one shallow dive (which is awesome still) and then a guided dive to one of the deeper sites. AOW just stops us from asking so many questions. Experience speaks volumes.

Call me if you have any questions...link is below (okay, and above...hehe).

Happy diving to all!! We're ready for summer!!!

Nema!!

You won't do any better anywhere on the coast than Hatteras with Outer Banks Diving. The boat is huge (62') and spacious, and the water temp is 80-83 consistently. I'm a Hatteras local who dives my home waters 10-15 trips/year. No better wrecks anywhere, in my opinion and I've been from The Blue Hole to the Keys, Cozumel to Grand Cayman.
