Oh, I'd alwas choose Gozo over Malta, it's so much more relaxed and as the islands if much smaller, you can get easier around on a daily base (you might sit 1-2 hours in traffic in Malta, just to get back from the dive). I immediately agree that Gozo is much more quiet and relaxed than the main island. The main island will have more facilities, restaurants, etc. That's personal preference.

I have to disagree with the 1-2 hour traffic comment. I've been there in May and in July and although it is crowded and there is congestion, we rarely had more than 15 min of additional travel time. But we usually gathered at nine in the morning and then left. Maybe it's different if you want te leave earlier.
