We did it from the boat first because we did not know what to expect. We saw people doing it from the shore.

There is a small boat basin at the end road. You park at the end of the road and walk across a short section of rocks. We carried our gear across the rocks and assembled it by the very
nice metal ladder on one side of the basin. You swim thru the channel to open water. The swim to the frigate is not an issue for anyone in reasonable shape. It a good idea to take a compass heading in case you want to swim back underwater.

With the shore dive, you obviously don't need to worry about getting back to the boat at a specific time. At $10-15 per tank, you can't beat it.

Thanks. How is the dive itself? What are the depths of the wreck? How is the marine life on and around the wreck?

. . . got the depths. 80' bow. 30' top.

There is reputed to be a large grouper in the engine space. Apparently, it once charged a diver that it thought was trying to corner it.

Turtles eat the sponges on the deck.

Variety of normal cayman fish.

Best overall wreck dive that I have been on in comparison to Oriskany, Hilma Hooker, C-53, Pete tide, Vancouver, Shaw, etc.

You enter at the old buccaneer hotel. It's not a difficult swim at all. The wall at the wreck is deep, starts at like 110. The reefs between the shore and the wreck are really nice.

We did see the Goliath grouper in July.
