The basic forum idear is this:

I have a question
People give me advice or tips.

If you are here to comment the advice people are giving me and calling their contributions diotic, rubish, nonsense and such, you are not being of any help to me, the OP. So why would you put your time and effort in doing that?
Do you expect everyone agrees with everyone on any issue?
"First timer report is as good as any by so called expert'" ! What is wrong with that?
The comment made by @Dan is condescending in my book.
Report it and see what the MOD would do.

Thank you Matt, ill have a look at R.A for sure! did 3 weeks Maldives last year and it was fab. Way better than Socorro, which was twice the money and half the life.
Where did you dive in the Maldives please?

Ah,i see.....

I lack patience for this type of detailed writing but thank you to point it out to me ofcourse! I am almost ready to book for feb. and it will be homestays and diving!

I dove with wild scuba indonesia in south lombok. I stayed at silver ferns so needed a car ride to pickup point around 50 minutes away.
Challenging currents, fantastic deep diving. Not too much macro to see but the colours of the corals and the marine life is incredible.
Manta, Mobula, whale sharks, white tips and black tips, all there. Hammerhead cleaning station at 50m so thats a back gas deco dive.

Bring a large DSMB and a satellite tracker. Indonesia can have wicked currents.

After this I went to Lembongan with Tamerind Divers also very good but only 2 dives a day the afternoon currents are too strong.
Crystal Bay for the Sun Fish aka Mola Mola.

Also dived with Gekodivers in Padang Bai in Bali. Stayed at Matahari to dive Tulamben and liberty wreck.

Three weeks you can cover areas for macra and mud, Liberty Wreck, Padang Bai and get all the things you want just at different locations. I also speak some Indonesian so was fun for me. South Lombok great local food around 750m away from Sover Ferns.

Thank you for all the great advice!
Whats a back gas Deco dive? Doubles? I am a GUE T1 diver but thought tech was not very big in Indonesia?

Back gas deco is a single AL80... So you won't add a lot of deco on your dive and a lot of that deco obligation is cleared on the ascent.

I was just in Maldives last month where deco dives on an AL 80 was happening as well.

Deco diving for many of us is not tech diving. I was trained in Deco Diving with BSAC in the 1980's. CMAS and other agencies teach deco as part of normal diving.

There are a lot of tech divers in Indonesia and in Bali you will find many offering PADI Tech 40 50 etc and TDI ANDP and other "tech" courses.

Going to 50 meter on a single tank of air and even get the deco out of the same tank.......
Its all fun and games until the o ring pops, the reg free flows and your buddy is at 40 bar.....

That would scare me! I'd do it with a Doubleset trimix and a stage of 50%....... Seems like a fab dive!!!

That setup sounds great for getting ready to do a negative entry when the swell is 2 - 3m lol

50m and a small deco obligation and it's not on offer to everyone. Those trained for deco sure .... yeah most dives end around 45 minutes at the surface but still plenty of gas left at end of dive.

You are not spending a lot of time at 50m at the cleaning station. Where are you going to get Trimix in Lombok?

BSAC was 50m on air for deco dives back in the days of no DC, no SPG lol Showing my age lol

Anyway no one is forced to do any dive to that depth. Don't like a dive offered just decline. :yeahbaby:

Yeah the dives are fabulous. Going to dive there again.

Doing this is plain stupid and reckless.

One can also say that diving in Indonesia which is known for fast currents and people get separated from their guides and drift out to sea and die is reckless as well. Especially as they do not have a satellite transmitter with them.

LOL.
Most divers do not even carry SMB let alone a satellite transmitter.
BTW, it is dead easy to claim anything on line.
