You learn from people responses and advices.
You learn from some people responses and advices.
Many reports from first timers are more discovery reports than real advices. That's the information bias on social networks or boards.

"Rough" does not mean the same for all people.

For some people where I am from, not having air conditioning, wifi, glass windows or a hot shower "rough". It's all a matter of perspective, though as I understand it the OP was referring to water conditions, not the accommodations.

Me, I love the homestay option and wouldn't have it any other way - even with money no object.

Non sense.
First timer report is as good as any. I might learn something eg. personal requirement, that I usually take it for granted. Many "advices" from "expert" floating around are nothing but rubbish.

I was replying to certain idiotic comment on first timer report.
BTW, it might be your thread but that is the end of it.

He’s known for trolling. I have him on my ignore list.

Hey Central,

The basic forum idear is this:

I have a question
People give me advice or tips.

If you are here to comment the advice people are giving me and calling their contributions diotic, rubish, nonsense and such, you are not being of any help to me, the OP. So why would you put your time and effort in doing that?

You might have another issue you try to solve this way.

So if you need some personal attention, feel free to write me whats lacking in your personal life that causes this behaviour. I might be of help.
If not, i would suggest you reflect on your reason to be here and how short life is to be wasted with arguing. Lets try to get along!

Dear divers,

Any advice on Indonesia in februari, March? I have never been there and would love to dive. I am fine with challenging currents, difficult ways to get there, no luxury. I am a GUE tech,PADI inst. 1300 dives. Experienced solo Traveller. Can do liveaboard or/and shore.

Would love to dive in a place with some big schools, sharks, and obviously macro and mud. I have around 3-4 weeks, from mid feb. Mantas and whalesharks not necessary. I like it rough, if its worth it!

(I worked in Bonaire and as you ll know there is not so much big schools of anything nor sharks hence my preference for now!)

Thank you all so much for your advice!

I dove with wild scuba indonesia in south lombok. I stayed at silver ferns so needed a car ride to pickup point around 50 minutes away.
Challenging currents, fantastic deep diving. Not too much macro to see but the colours of the corals and the marine life is incredible.
Manta, Mobula, whale sharks, white tips and black tips, all there. Hammerhead cleaning station at 50m so thats a back gas deco dive.

Bring a large DSMB and a satellite tracker. Indonesia can have wicked currents.

After this I went to Lembongan with Tamerind Divers also very good but only 2 dives a day the afternoon currents are too strong.
Crystal Bay for the Sun Fish aka Mola Mola.

Also dived with Gekodivers in Padang Bai in Bali. Stayed at Matahari to dive Tulamben and liberty wreck.

Three weeks you can cover areas for macra and mud, Liberty Wreck, Padang Bai and get all the things you want just at different locations. I also speak some Indonesian so was fun for me. South Lombok great local food around 750m away from Sover Ferns.
