Hi all,

What kink of BP/w do you think that I should purchase? I am thinking of aluminum rather than stainless steel. I'd like to know which manufacturer you would recommend.

Need more info...do you dive doubles, singles, AL or steel...where do you dive, so on so forth.

Oxycheq or Deep Sea Supply. They are basic and rugged. No BS!

Everyone here will recommend their personal favorite - mine's Halcyon - but you really can't go wrong with any of them.

I've had a SS Dive Rite for years. It is fine.

What I've noticed on Hollis, Oxycheq, and Halcyon plates are they have polished, rounded and clean edges. That is nice.

The edges on my DR aren't that nice.

I have what i like to call a franken-bp/w. My wing is a 32lb hog, with a dive rite AL backplate, Hollis hardware and trim pockets, and a piece of webbing that I bought for $15. It all works fine together.

Buy individual components and assemble the kit yourself.
There is very little to go wrong with a backplate so purchasing them used can be a great point to save unless you need a large or small plate.

1) Doing so may defeat some features of some systems.

2) Packages, wing, plate and harnesses are often offered at a discount compared to individual parts.

It would be for a beginner, warm water diving.
