I'd still like to hear what not being narc'd at 6m on O2 proves
Nothing ... at 6 meters the sum total partial pressure of the gas you're breathing is 1.6 ATA. At 30 meters it's 4.0. You have to account for the cumulative effects of narcosis from all the constituent gases that are contributing to it ... which at 30 meters not only includes the nitrogen and oxygen in your breathing gas, but also the CO2 your body's producing ... which can have quite a significant impact on your narcosis if you're working hard.

It'd be nice if folks pulling out references to scientific papers could put them into context before using them to make a point ...

Indeed

"People can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. 14% of people know that"

Probably... I tend to think of oxygen as at least somewhat narcotic and err on the side of more helium in my breathing gases.

And then there is the problem of high oxygen mixes actually being unhealthy for you--high O2 mixes will cause a large creation of free radicals in the body--the stuff we take Vitamin C and E , etc., to get rid of.... I would rather add higher helium, and keep O2 at 21% or below.

Granted.

I was more referring to when O2 is used on deco. So that no other gases are involved, in that instance has anyone experienced a feeling of Narcosis?

What is the PPO2 required for Oxygen Narcosis?

If O2 is twice as narcotic as Nitrogen and we begin to feel narc'd at a PPn2 of 3.16 (30m 100ft) then theoretically we should feel O2 narced at half that (1.58) which suggests that we should feel O2 narcosis when we switch to deco gases. But no-one does or do they?

i feel bad these days

i didn't breath O2 at PpO2 1.6 since one week
i 'm in lack of.
keenly next week.

Wart Sorry, in hurry on post, slack tide was nearing. These were dives on wrecks in the great lakes, Buy the time I got mine the pony deco was getting introduced.
I used it a few times, then started partial pressure blending, and then got a helium bottle and started trimix diving.
The other one good reason was it was more flexable to be under the boat in heavy waves, the anchor line went considerably up and down. We never had a time we never made it to the anchor, but if you did have to surface on your own you were on air and and did air deco. we had no computers, and breathing pure o2 was a conservative way, I know it was not so much to get out of the water early.

I would say the narc from o2 would take awhile if you indulged in helium on the dive. Never felt it on my dives. If so I would think it has a different feeling than a nitrogen narc.
