Hi guys,

I guess it depends what graphic region you take the course in and what agency you prefer to train through.

Remember, that even though the agencies have certain minimum standards, that it's up to the instructor.

Advanced nitrox isn't going to get you very far without the deco endorsement.

In Canada, there are very few tech instructors I've seen who actually amount to anything. This means, that courses could be 2 days or some could drag out to what would equate to weeks on end.

The thing that you should ask yourself is what type of course do you want as a student?

What is to say that TDI or IANTD or NAUI are the way either? Every course basically depends on how the instructor conducts it.

I suggest looking through the google search engines under tech diving instruction, tech instructors, technical diving instruction and more. I think from there, you will see one constant in Canada and that is one dive store who is dedicated to that type of diving.

Look at the different courses available and see what you want.

Aspire to more and you'll get the best courses in the business.

PS: Pricing is anywhere from $350-$495cdn +Gst for a good course for just advanced nitrox, but again, deco procedures is something you should take too. Many instructors offer a package discount.

tstormwarning:
I am currently going through an Adv. Nitrox course through IANTD & it was $300+ books. I have done the classroom portion & the confined water portion. We are waiting until the quarry waters warm up a tad (plus ironing out some scheduling issues) to do the open water portion.
Funny how geography plays it's part. Our confined portion IS the quarry, the open water is the Atlantic. ;)

Anyway, TDI $500 for adv. nit/deco, + books and boat fees.
4 classroom sessions, 2 quarry dives, 4 boat dives on 2 seperate days.
