TSandM:
How do you deal with the excess length with the light in the right hand? Do you wrap it around your forearm?

yes. two or three loops is all it takes. i haven't had any problems.

on the other hand, the chord coming across my chest was, inevitably, an issue
on tight passages.

onfloat:
I didn't even ask what you do with the light during an airshare, blind your buddy, or drop the light?

hahaha.... nice "either or" fallacy eyebrow

no on the drop the light part

and no on the blind your buddy part

i've done literally dozens of air-shares like this, with both my buddy and me
having right-mounted lights, and i find the "blinding" problem is over-rated.

think about it: if the light is mounted on my hand, it will be pointed at the ceiling
when i hand the reg over, not at my buddy's eyes.

at any rate, not an issue

Tollie:
A question… if you wanted to show your team your pressure could you smoothly clip and unclip from the chest position? Or is the spg “affixed” to the left chest d-ring for your use only.

yes, it's not a problem to unclip it. in fact, it's a lot easier than on the waist.

also, if unclipping it is a problem, you can always take two seconds to do
hand signals (a 2 followed by a 5 = 2500 psi). but if my buddy must see
the gauge to verify, it's not a problem unclipping it.

aquaoren:
Well, I'm a strong believer that you shouldn't try to replace skills with a new equipment configuration, YMMV. :D

lol... ok... did you learn to do the backward kick with Mare Quattros?

wait, no... you probably changed the equipment configuration to use Jets

:D

aquaoren:
So, you don't think it's an issue wrapping it around your arm?
Not even after reading this? http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=139719

he had his computer strapped OVER the light chord. it's much harder to quickly undo the computer, remove it, undo the light handle, and ditch that.

on the other hand, removing an elastic handle such as mine, and simply
undoing two or three loops takes less than three seconds.

btw, you are ASSUMING he had the chord wrapped around his arm. we
really don't know that.

aquaoren:
I somehow can imagine myself how Andy is sitting infront of the computer and giggling about this thread. :D

not at all. i wanted to hear reactions to my changes from DIR divers. there
is a chance, you know, that someone may say something i didn't consider
in making my change ... and i could... you know... learn something?

hahahaha!!

so that was yours?

i was trying to figure out, w.t.f.????

i found it when drying the suit

H2Andy:
think about it: if the light is mounted on my hand, it will be pointed at the ceiling

When I'm actually passing the reg to someone I generally keep the mouth piece down and I don't turn the mouth piece towards them until right before handing it off. That means the top of my hand is up and the light will be pointed at them for most of the drill.

ok... i come to grab my reg (standard DIR grab): light is now pointed up

i extend arm and present reg to buddy. light is still pointed up because
my wrist has to pivot up to present reg flat to my buddy

at no point do i shine the light in his face

H2Andy:

I think I understand what you're doing, but it's not the "standard DIR grab" I was shown.

yeah, it is

my right hand comes to the reg and grabs the hose. my "fist" is facing up.
my fingers are facing me.
