A huge ray in Maui!

We spotted this ray while scooter diving at Makena Landing this weekend. Largest one I have seen so far. Any experts out there that can identify it. The Ulua feeding with it was around 70-80 Lbs to provide some size comparisons. I was told it is an Hawaiian Stingray. Looking for feedback.

Thanks Diversteve, We weren't sure about the different names all being the same ray. This must of been the grandpa of sting rays! Lol

"WOW" that is a big one. Can hardley wait to get back to Maui. Water temp here is starting to get cold.

Nice capture. I would expect to see eagle rays and mantas, but I haven't seen one like you photo despite over 100 dives there. It looks a lot like the southern stingrays that are so common in the Carribean. Thanks for sharing.
