I have an Oceanic Datamask and dread the day it actually dies. My transmitter recently died so I took it to my LDS and thyn sent it in to see what could be done. Huish (who now owns Hollis and Oceanic) required me send in my Datamask too. We knew the mask was ok because it worked fine with an extra transmitter we had - but ok, I took it to my LDS. When my LDS got it back from Huish they had been told my Datamask was dead. The LDS owner knew that the mask worked with our extra transmitter and decided to do some sleuthing. She discovered that the mask and old transmitter had a 5 digit serial number, but the new transmitters have 6 digits. She called Huish and asked them to find a 5 digit transmitter and one is now on its way to us.

I'm thrilled with the excellent customer service of my LDS, and specifically the owner. Who knows how many Datamasks have been declared 'dead' and can now be fitted with a 5 digit transmitter?

Sometimes there are threads here about what your LDS can do to get and keep your business. This is one of those things. Go the extra mile. Pay attention to what your customers are telling you (the mask worked with a functional transmitter) and challenge conventional wisdom (the mask is dead).

After I lost my regulator bag on Sharm El Sheikh Airport, I had to buy a new transmitter for my DATAMASK. Fortunately I found an almost new spare DATAMASK with TRM included for a great price on a private market place in Switzerland. So now I had two working DATAMASKs but with a 6-digit transmitter. It absolutely blew my mind that OCEANIC sold packages with a 6-digit TRM... how to set up the code in the HUD when you can only edit 5 digits??

... but there is a simple way to push the code onto the mask. First I downloaded the most recent Diverslog software and the USB-drivers for Windows 7 from OCEANIC but since the DATAMASK isn't supported anymore, the up- and download of settings to and from DM isn't a feature in this current app version.
BUT ...the software version on the CD that has been included in the package does this job. (if someone has the 6-digit problem and doesn't own this CD any more, I can provide you with a download URL).

Now I edited all my settings and also the transmitter-ID (up to 3 different transmitters) for the mask in the diverslog-app and after figuring out how to establish a connection with the PC-interface, I was able to upload the ID together with the other settings to the mask.

You don't see the first digit of the link-code in your HUD but you can be sure that it is now set to 1... If you want to verify it, simply change the link-code directly in the mask menu back to 00000 (factory setting) again and "read" all current settings from mask to PC with the PC-interface and now the 100000 will appear in your app...

so from now on, you can change transmitters and set them with only the last 5 digits directly in the DATAMASK menu

tadaaa... it works!

So, who is this helpful LDS??? You need to rat them out for such excellent service.

@The Chairman - it's Y-Kiki Divers in St Louis. Valerie Elliott was incredibly helpful - runs a great shop, nice folks, knowledgeable and fun. Great combo. :)
